Why you should see a physical therapist

The answer is simple, your individual health matters. No two people function the same.

Although our basic anatomy is similar, unique life circumstances such as age, level of activity, occupation, diet, and much more have a significant effect on how individuals manage the physical demands of day-to-day life.

Physical therapists seek to evaluate and treat a wide variety of conditions in order to maximize safety, functional movement and reduce the risk of future or recurrent injury.

We intently listen to our patients’ histories in order to get a complete view of their current health state. We treat the whole person rather than an isolated injury.

Common Injuries Physical Therapists Treat:

What makes Mt. Lookout Chiropractic & Sports Injury Center physical therapists unique?

We treat the whole person rather than an isolated injury. Our physical therapist performs a detailed, individualized examination on your first visit and then develops an individualized treatment plan. Within that plan, we address the negative physical, mental, and emotional impacts an injury can cause.

The physical therapists at Mt. Lookout Chiropractic & Sports Injury Center help guide, encourage, and empower our patients to take active responsibility for improving their health. Our PT staff cultivates a spirit of collaboration to ensure patients receive top-quality care.

“I was in bad shape when I first started physical therapy with Dr. Dave Stejbach. Major muscle tightness and nerve pain stemming from lower back issues. Dave and the entire staff put me through my paces for a month or two, and what a difference that has made.

I’ve been as active as I’ve wanted to be, without incident, for a year now. I worked hard in the therapy sessions, but it was always fun. The vibe there is so good, I wanted to keep going even when I didn’t need to anymore. Many thanks!”  Keith H. Pleasant Ridge, OH

Post Surgical Rehabilitation

Skilled rehabilitation post-surgery is imperative to restoring mobility to affected joints and integrity to affected soft tissue structures. Whether the operation was a total joint replacement or a less complex arthroscopic procedure, people can benefit from a consultation with an exercise prescription given by a licensed physical therapist.

Programs will always be designed to meet individuals’ needs, keeping post-operative protocols and surgeon’s precautions in mind.

The physical therapists at Mt. Lookout Chiropractic & Sports Injury Center have years of experience in post-surgical rehabilitation for many conditions such as:

  • Low back surgery
  • Neck surgery
  • Hip surgery
  • Knee surgery
  • Shoulder surgery
  • Ankle surgery

Pre-surgery Rehabilitation (Prehab)

For individuals who want to optimize their strength and mobility before undergoing an invasive surgical procedure, pre-habilitation with a PT is a great option. Individuals can discuss their upcoming surgery and goals for post-operative function.

The physical therapist will then provide education and exercise prescription designed to ease the transition from surgery to the prior functionality level. Inevitably, intentional trauma (surgery), is going to cause negative effects on various anatomical structures.

One specific example is muscle atrophy. However, by optimizing muscular strength prior to surgery, individuals can reduce such negative impacts inherent with surgery.

This pre-habilitation program allows patients to build strength before surgery, putting them in a position to have great results and a speedy recovery.

Physical Therapy Maintenance Program

The maintenance program at Mt. Lookout Chiropractic & Sports Injury Center in Cincinnati is designed for patients who have completed their recommended series of skilled PT visits and would benefit from their rehabilitation program’s consistent performance.

By gaining access to our clinic’s equipment and staff, previous patients know they have all the necessary tools to capitalize on the momentum gained during their structured physical therapy. Maintenance clients can also discuss program advancement, ask questions, and will receive recommendations as they arise with their PT.

Pilates Reformer Program

Similar to our maintenance program, the Pilates reformer program was created for individuals to work one on one with a PT or PTA. Sessions are 30 minutes in duration and are designed to increase functional mobility and strength throughout the body. Our approach blends traditional Pilates reformer exercises with our signature Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization techniques, which integrates trunk stability and movement.
